Next meeting June 16th

Who We Are

The Society is a loosely-structured group of classical guitar lovers from the Northern Colorado Front Range community including Berthoud, Estes Park, Fort Collins, Greeley, Longmont, Loveland, Windsor, Wellington, and places in between and beyond. Annual dues are $25, which covers the cost of the web site and operational expenses.

What We Do

The Society meets on the third Monday of each month to bring classical and acoustic guitar players and friends together to enjoy each other’s company and music. Discussions include music, arrangements, artists, technique, and performance. Members share information about upcoming events and we occasionally have guest appearances by well-known artists. However, the majority of our time is devoted to playing for each other, allowing us all to demonstrate our growing skill among peers. Player talent ranges from beginner to distinguished expert. Everyone has an opportunity to play and all earn enthusiastic applause and encouragement.

Newsletter

To receive our monthly newsletter with CGS meeting notes, playbills, and notices of upcoming classical guitar events, send an email to: classguitarsoc@aol.com.

Concerts

In the past, the Society sponsored concerts by artists of renown whom we might not otherwise have seen in Colorado.  The concerts included such prominent guitarists as GFA winners Antigoni Goni, Fabio Zanon, Denis Azabagic, Jason Vieaux, Judicaël Perroy, Lorenzo Micheli, Martha Masters, and Johan Fostier (our Society was on the concert circuit for GFA winners), as well as Chris Hanford, Ernesto Tamayo,  Miguel Espinosa, Lily Afshar, and "The Three Guitarists" (Jim Bosse, Janet Feder, Steve Waechter).  By presenting these performers, the Society helped to promote an appreciation of classical guitar music in northern Colorado.  Unfortunately, the time, effort, and money required have made it unfeasible to continue to sponsor these concerts, but they remain a proud part of our history.

Disclaimer Directory

Before playing, we usually say a few words about the piece. Sometimes we also say a few words -- disclaimers -- explaining why the piece the audience is about to hear might not be as good as we might wish. Stu Beatty has compiled these in the Official Disclaimer Directory.
