From 1996 to 2000, the Society sponsored concerts by artists of renown whom we might not otherwise have seen in Colorado.  The concerts included such prominent guitarists as GFA winners Antigoni Goni, Fabio Zanon, Denis Azabagic, Jason Vieaux, Judicaël Perroy, Lorenzo Micheli, Martha Masters, and Johan Fostier (our Society was on the concert circuit for GFA winners), as well as Chris Hanford, Ernesto Tamayo,  Miguel Espinosa, Lily Afshar, and "The Three Guitarists" (Jim Bosse, Janet Feder, Steve Waechter).  By presenting these performers, the Society helped promote an appreciation of classical guitar music in Northern Colorado.  Unfortunately, the funding required has made it unfeasible to continue to sponsor these concerts, but they remain a proud part of our history.

In the spring of 2009 the organization was disbanded, but in the fall of 2009 some previous members along with several new participants reorganized the GSNC in its current form. In April of 2010 the society expanded its scope beyond classical guitar, and now it also welcomes fingerstyle instrumental guitar performances on steel-string acoustic guitars. We are confident that the group will continue to grow, prosper, and support more guitar events in our region.

GOVERNANCE -- The Classical Guitar Society of Northern Colorado adopted its first set of bylaws in October 2009, establishing it as a democratic organization.

Elected officers include a President, Program Director, Secretary, Treasurer, and Member at Large. This Board of Directors makes some of the administrative decisions for the organization, while bringing most other decisions to the membership at large for discussion and voting. The election of officers is held during the the regular monthly meeting in September each year.
